How to improve your mood, motivation and energy levels the easiest way possible!

Sometimes I get so absorbed in my work that time just slips away from me. I don’t think about anything else. I really love what I do! Then, I get up to make dinner or chat on the phone and feel exhausted.

Why was I getting so tired?

Chinese medicine believes that we all have 12 energy meridians running through our body corresponding to major organs. Simply put, this means we have channels or a system of energy highways where Qi (the Chinese word for energy) can flow freely.

Our posture is very much connected to the alignment of our body. When we maintain a good posture, our energy flows freely, however when we are in a bad posture, our energy becomes blocked and stagnant.

Think of your body like a hose – when the hose is bent, the water pressure decreases, or in some cases, stops flowing. The same happens with the energy flow in our body. If you want to maintain the maximum pressure in the hose, it needs to be straight.

I think my posture has been affecting my moods!

If we are sitting incorrectly or stay in an incorrect posture for a long time, this can block our energy meridians.

Our bodies naturally prefer the easiest position to maintain, however this is not necessarily what is best for us.

Don’t you find that it is easier to slump over in your seat when typing than to sit up straight? Or when walking you tend to hunch your shoulders unconsciously?

Turns out that having poor posture can do more than just make you feel tired and drained. Poor posture can affect circulation, breathing and the wellbeing of our internal organs.


An experiment was given to a group of people where they were asked to walk slouched over down a hallway and rate their energy level. Then, They were asked to skip back and again rate their energy level.

Unsurprisingly, when the group skipped back their energy levels increased dramatically! There was no blockage of energy flow through their body.

The good news is that being aware and making simple adjustments to your posture can have an incredible impact!

Simply sitting straight can help improve your energy levels and take away any feelings of depression. Studies show that simply sitting straight can increase your intake of oxygen by up to 30%! More oxygen means that you can breathe easier and helps you to feel more relaxed.

Another Exercise

Another great exercise is to lie on your back on the floor with no pillow, for at least one minute. This allows your body to adjust itself into it’s natural position.

Then slowly stand up (without jerking your body) and maintain the same position while standing.

Stand for at least one minute without making any adjustments as this lets the body get back into it’s natural position again without any interference.
