Ever wondered why some people are so comfortable wearing bright coloured clothing while others will constantly wear black and white, or neutral colours?

Colour has a lot to do with our emotions and how we feel, and can often be expressed to the outside world through our clothing or our words.

‘I was so angry I saw red!’

‘I am feeling blue today.’

‘He’s yellow – he ran away!’

Any of these phrases sound familiar?

I have spent a lot of time researching emotions and colour and have found that this is how the primary emotions are broken down:

  • FEAR – anxiety, terror, phobias, overwhelm
  • SORROW – melancholy, depression, grief, sadness
  • ANGER – frustration, jealousy, revenge, rage

These emotions can be broken down further, for example jealousy can encompass envy, dissatisfaction and rivalry as well as many other emotions. But ultimately, all emotion comes back to these 3 primary emotions.

We can use colours to balance our emotions. Often it is hard to tell exactly how we are feeling, so I suggest starting off with identifying which colour you are relating to. You will then be able to identify the associated emotion and take steps to breathe or meditate through it.

Thinking and meditating on a colour can also help you heal. For example, the colour blue can be used to soothe the body. It has an anesthetic quality, which is very calming. There is one particular vibration of blue that I use in a healing template that is the blue of the midday sky in summer. It is a rich vital and vivid azure blue and wonderful for your body.

Meditation and colours

Anyone who has ever meditated knows that colours are also associated with our 7 chakras:

  • Root chakra – Muladhara – RED
  • Sacral chakra – Swadhisthana – ORANGE
  • Solar plexus chakra – Manipura – YELLOW
  • Heart chakra – Anahata – GREEN
  • Throat chakra – Vishuddha – BLUE
  • Brow (third eye) chakra – Ajna – PURPLE
  • Crown chakra – Sahasrara – VIOLET

I have developed a meditation that uses these colours and chakras to heal your master cells. This simple technique involves envisaging yourself climbing down coloured stairs, each one associated with a certain chakra. Once you reach the bottom you do a powerful meditation before re-climbing the stairs again. I have found this to be incredibly powerful and important in maintaining the structure of your master cells.

So pay attention to the colours around you, the words you use and the colours you wear. They might be telling you more than you think!
